چکیده
Introduction Dry eye disease (DED) is a common problem. Although the not fatal, it substantially reduces quality of life and creates high economic burden, especially in patients with moderate-to-severe DED. Several biological tear substitutes (eg, autologous serum (AS), platelet-rich plasma (APRP) platelet lysate) could effectively improve dry eyes. However, evidence on their comparative efficacy controversial. This study aims to compare 100% APRP AS drops Methods analysis The single-centre, double-blinded randomised, parallel, non-inferiority trial. One hundred thirty DED, aged 18–70 years will be recruited from outpatient clinic, Department Ophthalmology, Ramathibodi Hospital, Bangkok February 2021 January 2023. Patients randomised receive either or (1:1 ratio) for 4 weeks. primary outcomes are ocular surface index (OSDI) staining (OSS) evaluated using Oxford scale. Secondary fluorescein break-up time, Schirmer’s I test, meibomian gland parameters adverse events. Other measured include best-corrected visual acuity, intraocular pressure compliance. Ethics dissemination protocol any supplements used conducting this trial have been approved by Committee Faculty Medicine, Mahidol University (MURA2020/1930). Informed consent obtained all before entry. Results presented peer-reviewed journals international conferences. Trial registration number NCT04683796 .

Acupuncture for dry eye: a randomised controlled trial protocol
BACKGROUND Dry eye is usually managed by conventional medical interventions such as artificial tears, anti-inflammatory drugs and surgical treatment. However, since dry eye is one of the most frequent ophthalmologic disorders, safer and more effective methods for its treatment are necessary, especially for vulnerable patients. Acupuncture has been widely used to treat patients with dry eye. Our...
متن کاملComparison of novel lipid-based eye drops with aqueous eye drops for dry eye: a multicenter, randomized controlled trial
BACKGROUND Dry eye may be caused or exacerbated by deficient lipid secretion. Recently, lipid-containing artificial tears have been developed to alleviate this deficiency. Our study compared the efficacy, safety, and acceptability of lipid-containing eye drops with that of aqueous eye drops. METHODS A non-inferiority, randomized, parallel-group, investigator-masked multicenter trial was condu...
متن کاملSymptomatic dry eye treatment with autologous platelet-rich plasma.
BACKGROUND Autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been proven to be very effective on tissue regeneration and wound healing. Here we investigate the potential use of PRP in the treatment of symptomatic dry eye. METHODS Eighteen consecutive patients with symptomatic dry eye were treated with topical PRP and followed up for 1 month. Disappearance of subjective symptoms, increase in best corr...

PURPOSE Comparison of efficacy and safety of 0.2% and 0.18% hyaluronic acid (HA) eye drops three times a day (tid) in patients with moderate to severe dry eye disease, related to keratitis or keratoconjunctivitis. PATIENTS AND METHODS Prospective, multicenter, randomized, single-masked, phase IIIb, noninferiority study (0.2% HA vs 0.18% HA) in two parallel groups over a period of 84 days. N=7...
متن کاملLong-term use of autologous serum 50% eye drops for the treatment of dry eye disease.
PURPOSE The aim of this study was to describe the outcomes of 50% autologous serum (AS) eye drops after long-term use in a large cohort of patients with dry eyes. METHODS A retrospective cohort study was conducted on all patients treated with 50% AS eye drops at our institution between June 2008 and January 2013. Records were reviewed for clinical history, systemic risk factors, dry eye etiol...
